Sedlescombe Village Voice

Tonight, Friday 15 October, is the evening for those of you who are looking to flex your brain cells at the lighthearted, fun quiz night at the village hall.

I remember the first quiz evening that we, my husband and I, went to, we were quite new to the village and didn’t have a team and really didn’t know many people at all but we went along to support the event and had a thoroughly good evening.

Not only did we meet and make some new friends but found ourselves on quite a knowledgeable team, it is quite surprising what trivia we seem to have lurking in our brains that can get recalled at a moments notice.

There seems to be a bit of a shortage at the moment on the new volunteer front around the village as I know that the Gardening Society are also in need of committee members.

That is not to say that there isn’t a strong core who wish to see the village thrive in all its endeavours but of course all groups and societies need and want to welcome in new ideas and thoughts , Is it that word committee that puts people off from volunteering ?

In the main, this usually means a meeting, once every month or two to discuss and arrange the group in question, nothing more ominous that that, in fact, it can be quite enjoyable. All is positive from the experience, for you and the village.

The Rye and District Association of the National Trust start their winter Talks programme on Thursday 21 October, Michael Lacy will present a Talk on Bateman’s - the Sussex home of Rudyard Kipling.
