Further news on the village Jubilee celebrations taking place on Monday June 4, the family picnic on the sports field will run between 3.30 and 8.30pm. Bring your own picnic, rugs or chairs to sit on, there will be tea , coffee and soft drinks available, all free thanks to grants received from Rother District council and the Parish Council. Everyone is invited and yes that means you too , so lets make it an afternoon of fun and celebration to mark our Queens 60 year reign. There will be music for barn dancing, children’s games and races for all ages. For more details at this stage please contact 870688 or 870808.

Don’t forget to mark your diaries to support both these jubilee events taking place in the village.

Now, there is a plea for a photographer who would be willing to take photographs of the jubilee village events. The Battle Observer is hoping to publish up to five pictures from each village in the area, however with limited resources available they cannot possibly get around to them all and so are requesting that someone in the locality is nominated to help out. Big group pictures are welcome, flag-waving carousers, tea- and-cake-loving royalists, chocolate-covered children, in fact whatever the photographer feels represents the hard work that the organisers have been putting in. If you think you may be interested in this role please contact me using the details at the end of this column. I will then be able to give you a little more detail regarding sending them in and deadlines.
