Anne Buckley says she was given no notice it wouldn’t be turning up again to collect her husband Cecil, who is in ‘lots of pain’.

“They should have picked him up at 10am but didn’t arrive and no one is answering the phone, we’ve been trying for nearly an hour,” Anne said on Wednesday. “It’s the second week running, he urgently needs an injection to ease the pain in his leg.”

Since private firm Coperforma took over non-urgent transport services in Sussex on April 1, hundreds of people have complained about delays. “Cecil has prostate cancer, diabetes and only one leg and I have Parkinson’s so I’m not able to take him myself,” Anne said. “It will cost at least £60 for a special taxi there and back, but if they don’t turn up against next Wednesday we’ll have to pay.”
