Tenchley Manor Nursing Home, in Ursula Square, Selsey, received a ‘requires improvement’ rating from inspectors following a visit in February.

But Cheerhealth, which runs the home, said it was ‘disappointed’ with some of the comments in the report.

A spokesman for Cheerhealth said: “While the majority of the report is very positive, we are naturally very disappointed and dissatisfied with some of the comments, as the report contains numerous contradictions, factual errors and some points raised have been excessively embellished.”

Cheerhealth has raised concerns about the inspector’s ‘lack of experience’ and nursing knowledge and has submitted a formal complaint to the CQC.

Cheerhealth added: “During the many years we have been operating nursing homes we have always embraced, and have been fully committed to regular inspections having consistently achieved the top ratings in our homes.

“Clearly we would not wish to demean the inspection process but this report dates back to early February 2015, has taken the CQC over seven months to publish, includes factual inaccuracies and is already out of date.”

The CQC rated the home as requires improvement in four of the five areas but said care at the home was ‘good’.

A report by the health watchdog states: “Care plans were detailed but did not always reflect people’s current needs.

“Risks to people’s welfare and safety were not always identified and managed effectively.

“Medicines were managed appropriately. However, there was a lack of guidance to support staff administering ‘as required’ medicines.”
