‘Seriously injured’ passenger’s condition improves

A WOMAN who was airlifted to hospital following a fatal crash in Peasmarsh is now conscious and in a stable condition, a police spokesperson has said.

The 59-year-old, who comes from Battle, was airlifted to Kings College Hospital with serious head injuries following the crash on the A268, Main Street, Peasmarsh, on Tuesday evening (March 27).

The crash claimed the life of a 60-year-old Battle man, who is believed to be the woman’s husband.

The man was travelling in the rear of a Ford Fiesta car when it collided with a VW Golf and a stationary Nissan Primastar van at around 7.10pm.

The woman was travelling in the front of the Fiesta at the time of the crash.

The driver, a 63-year-old man from St Leonards, and the 37-year-old drive of the VW Golf were taken to the Conquest Hospital with minor injuries.

Both have since been discharged from hospital.

The Nissan driver, a 44-year-old man from Winchelsea, was unhurt.

Police are asking witnesses to the accident to call them on 101.
