Severe weather warning: storms lash Sussex

High winds and rain are battering East Sussex.

Gusts of up to 70mph are expected today (Tuesday).

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for East Sussex and gales have been predicted later in the morning and throughout the afternoon.

Towns across the country have also been put on flood alert but no flood warnings have been issued yet for Uckfield, Alfriston and Lewes.

Drivers have been advised to refer to the Highways Agency for information about traffic snarl ups.

The Newehaven/Dieppe ferry is still running.
