Sewer works close part of London Road

DRIVERS are being advised to seek alternative routes following the closure of the upper end of London Road following a sewer collapse.

London Road will be closed from its junction with Holliers Hill to its junction with Sedgewick Road while repairs are undertaken by Southern Water.

East Sussex County Council's highways department said this week that a temporary diversion set up to take traffic via Holliers Hill and Sedgewick Road has made it necessary to ban all parking in both narrow sections of road, plus the affected section of London Road.

A 21-day closure order issued on Monday came into immediate effect because of the emergency nature of the work.
