Sex assault on teenager

A WOMAN in her late teens was seriously indecently assaulted by a man while she was crossing Malling playing fields in Lewes at 11.40pm on Wednesday night.

Another woman telephoned police after hearing her screams. Police found the girl shaken, very distressed, and suffering bruising.

She was taken to a serious assault suite in Hailsham and was seen by a woman police officer and a doctor.

The police helicopter later made a sweep of the town in search of the offender but no-one was arrested, although several people were spoken to in the street.

The victim is in the process of being further interviewed by police.

l A 15-year-old girl was walking home along a pathway in Lewes at 9.20pm on Saturday when a man grabbed her from behind on the old railway line near Malling Community Centre.

She managed to fight him off before running away.

The man was 6ft tall, slim and wore a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
