Sex attack near Beach House Park

A YOUNG woman was sexually assaulted as she walked home from a night out in Worthing.

The 18-year-old victim was attacked at around 3am on Thursday as she walked near to the entrance to Beach House Park on Brighton Road.

A man spoke crudely to the woman, before pushing her towards some bushes and putting his hands around her throat.

He started to pull at her clothing but the woman bravely fought him off. He was then seen to run off down Brighton Road to the east.

The man was described as white, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, in his early 20s, with a long ,clean-shaven face and wearing a grey hooded top, dark jeans and smelling strongly of aftershave.

DC Simon Smith said: "The young woman was very shaken but was otherwise unharmed. We are keen to trace this man and anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or saw a couple struggle at that location, should contact detectives on 0845 60 70 999."
