DC Jon Tizzard, of Sussex Police, said: “Although the victim did not receive any injuries she was understandably extremely distressed by the incident.

“It is thought that the offender may have suffered a cut or wound to his head as the victim struck him quite hard with her stiletto shoe in order to make her escape.”

The man was described as white, in his mid-40s, with tanned skin and dark, greasy hair. He was of stocky build, and possibly had a foreign accent.

DC Tizzard added: “Do you know someone who had a head injury over the weekend? Or do you have any other information about this attack?

“If you can help, please call police on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 0634 of 24 February.”
