Shadow minister for Civil Society Lisa Nandy visited members from the East Sussex Association of blind and partially sighted people in Hailsham last week.

She had the opportunity to see the work the charity does with more than 1,700 people around the county who are blind or partially sighted.

She was shown an exhibition of the equipment available, talked about the work being carried out in the community in East Sussex, and had a chat with ESAB members about the benefit that ESAB brings. The round table discussion also highlighted some of the problems that blind and partially sighted people have in their everyday lives.

Daniel Brookbank, CEO of ESAB, said: “We were very pleased to have Lisa Nandy come and visit us. To be able to show the work that goes on here to a key member of the Shadow Cabinet means that our members needs and issues are highlighted at the highest levels of government. Lisa showed great interest in what we do and I am sure that some of the discussions she had with members will filter upwards and hopefully make a difference.”
