A Surrey Police spokesman said officers were conducting house-to-house enquiries after motorbikes, fishing equipment and power tools were damaged in the ‘suspicious’ fire in Raleigh Drive, Smallfield, at about 2.30am on May 8.

Police Constable Ashley Watts said: “We are currently carrying out further enquiries to determine what exactly happened to cause the shed fire.

“A number of high valued items including a BMW motorcycle and motorcycle leathers have been damaged, with the total damage estimated at a staggering £28,000 causing a great deal of upset to the owner.”

A police spokesman said: “There are also reports of a missing Marin Bolinas Ridge bike in grey which is thought to have been stolen from the shed.

“At this early stage the fire is being treated as suspicious and detectives are liaising with local fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire.

“Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) have also carried out a forensic examination of the area and neighbourhood officers continue to carry out house to house enquiries.”
