Partners Paul Stannard and Zoë Imbimbo have been watching their progress, eager to see how many baby swans arrived.

This morning, they spotted the little furry birds and were surprised to count a total of eight.

Zoë said: “We have been following their progress and waiting for them to hatch.

“My daughter thought there would be three, I thought four, so when we got eight, we were quite shocked. Last time, she had six.”

The nest is on the lower island on the lake, at the sea end.

The couple work at ColourFull Kitchens, on Lancing Business Park, so they see the swans every day.

Paul usually walks his dogs there, too, and always carries his camera, as a keen photographer.

Zoë added: “He took the photos for everyone to enjoy and I put them on Twitter.”
