Shop blaze in Bognor

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in a Bognor shop earlier this morning.

Three fire engines, two from Bognor and one from Chichester, were deployed to the shop in Station Road at 1.54am.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said initial reports stated there were people inside flats above the ground floor shop.

The shop, which measures 20 by ten metres, sustained ten per cent damage by fire and 90 per cent heat and smoke damage.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using one high pressure hose reel and two jets.

The incident was dealt with by 2.42am.

A fire investigation officer is due to visit the shop this morning.

No one was injured.
