Shoppers rally for Littlehampton RNLI on SOS fund-raising day

SHOPPERS responded generously to an SOS appeal in the centre of Littlehampton.

They gave an impressive total of £1,167 to Littlehampton lifeboat crew members and supporters collecting for the RNLI’s annual SOS Day.

Spirit of Juniper, the town’s D-class lifeboat, was taken to the High Street pedestrian precinct, offering a reminder of the service provided voluntarily 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Nick White, lifeboat operations manager, said: “Despite the wintry weather conditions, the people of Littlehampton were warm, friendly and as always generous with their donations.

“We would also like to say a big thank-you to the girls in Greggs, who kept us all warm by donating tea and coffee.”

As well as the collection in town, there was a steady flow of visitors to the lifeboat station. “All in all, it was a very good day,” added Nick.
