SHOREHAM AIRSHOW 2012: Vulcan delights crowds on first day

THOUSANDS of people have been treated to the thrills and spills of aviation masters today (September 1), at the first day of Shoreham Airshow 2012.

The annual event, at Shoreham Airport, and in aid of the Royal Air Force Association, saw the spectators entertained by display teams include The Blades and The Matadors.

A day of aerial fun and frolics led up to the moment everyone was waiting for, the arrival of the Vulcan bomber XH558, which offered up a magnificent and awe-inspiring display, much to the delight of the crowds.

Other highlights included the Battle of Britain Memorial flight, which featured a Lancaster, a Spitfire and a Hurricane, though, low cloud spelt an early departure for the Hurricane and the Lancaster.

The fun will kick off again tomorrow, with gates opening at 8.30pm, and displays starting from about 10.30am.
