Shoreham home to reveal its new look at open day

Staff and residents at the Barchester home, in Kingsland Close, Shoreham, are inviting residents to join them from 10am onwards.

Eileen Garbutt, activities and lifestyle co-ordinator, said: “We will be very happy to show visitors our wonderful new look and from 12.30pm, we will have a barbecue lunch.

“There will be belly dance entertainment at 1.45pm, then a vibrant singer from 2.30pm for an hour’s fun and frolics.

“We hope people will come along for this special fourth of July event and perhaps even don a Stetson and cowboy boots.”

Staff and residents have been busy in the gardens, working on the vegetable beds and decorating the sensory garden.

The arts and crafts group has been decorating shiny CDs to hang up in the garden, helping to bring bright colours to add to the sweet smells.

Eileen said: “All our hard work inside in our arts and crafts group throughout the colder months has now been put to good use decorating our sensory gardens with our homemade decorations.

“Kingsland House had a wonderful month of May setting us up and ready to start our vegetable beds outside, as the weather was so nice. This set us up also to start having our tea-times out in the sunshine, too.”

Barchester said there had been significant investment in Kingsland House, and the new look has been designed with the residents in mind.

There is a bright new reception area, with space for socialising, a new dining room and new bedrooms.
