The inshore and all weather lifeboats were called on Friday around 4.20pm to a report of a kitesurfer off Lancing Beach who had become tangled in his board lines.

According to the RNLI, the kitesurfer had fired two red flares to alert the coastguard, but had then managed to untangle himself and get ashore safely as the lifeboats were proceeding.

A second incident followed yesterday around 5.40pm when the inshore lifeboat was launched to Shoreham Harbour near Carats Café in Southwick.

The RNLI said a kitesurfer was unable to get back on his board so the crew took him back to Shoreham Beach.
