Shoreham photo among finalists

SUSSEX Wildlife Trust has chosen the top 12 awe-inspiring wildlife and landscape images from hundreds entered in its photo competition, My Wild Sussex.

Members of the public now have until Saturday to decide the overall winner, by voting online

Among the finalists is Mark Kingston, of Joseph Walk, Shoreham, who submitted a photograph called Dawn Over Truleigh Hill.

First prize is £100 cash and the runner-up will receive a set of four Mark Greco wildlife mugs.

The final 12 pictures will appear in Sussex Wildlife Trust’s 2016 online calendar, and the overall winning image will feature in the members’ magazine, monthly enews and on the website.

Judge Neil Fletcher, a former photographer with the Natural History Museum, said: “The most powerful word in the theme is ‘My’ because I wanted to see what Wild Sussex meant to people living in the county.

“I selected the 12 finalists from around 700 entries based on how I thought the photographer was relating to the subject; could I feel the emotion they were feeling?”
