Sinking jet ski rider has lucky escape in Seaford Bay


A jet ski rider had a lucky escape this weekend after they began sinking in Seaford Bay.

Newhaven lifeboat were called out at around 10:55am on Saturday (June 4) and made full speed to the scene.

Luckily the rider was able to safely make it to shore and rescue the jet ski before the lifeboat arrived.

The crew was stood down and returned to station at 11:20am.

At around 3.15pm on Friday (June 3) Newhaven lifeboat were called out to reports of a surfboard floating by itself near Splash Point at Seaford.

The crew found an abandoned wind surfing board but after a quick examination it was clear it had been in the water for some considerable time and was not a cause for concern.

The crew stood down at 3:42pm and returned to station.
