Sixth annual Battle Scarecrow Festival is open for entries

THE sixth annual Battle Scarecrow Festival will return to the town on Monday June 30, running until Saturday July 19.

The event is open to entries and the organisers are encouraging individuals, schools, community groups and businesses to get involved.

Cllr Richard Jessop, from the Battle Scarecrow Festival Organising Committee, said: “This year is exciting in that we have chosen ‘Mythical Monsters’ as our theme - there are lots of them to chose from and we will be looking for your imagination to run riot!

“However, if you may find that too mind-boggling, traditional scarecrows will also be welcome!”

All profits will go to Battle’s Demelza shop, which supports the Demelza Hospice Care for Children charity.

There will be prizes for the best entries, and the winners will be announced at the annual Battle In Bloom Awards evening on Thursday July 24 at The Almonry.

Please send your entry to Battle Town Council at The Almonry with the £5 entry fee. Cheques should be made payable to the Battle and District Chamber of Commerce.
