The torches have been dipped in Kerosene, grand tableaus completed and transported to their starting positions and finishing touches added to extravagant costumes - Lewes is ready for Bonfire Night 2015.
Forecasts of heavy rain are not enough to dampen the spirits of thousands of people preparing to march through the streets with banners and blazing torches.
Lewes town centre is a hive of activity this morning as members dressed in their society’s colours sell programmes to the arriving crowds.
At firesites across the area, last-minute touches are being added to towering bonfire structures and firework displays, which will later light up the Lewes sky, amazing the hundreds of thousands of people expected to attend.
Lewes Borough Bonfire Society, in particular, will be hoping to draw the crowds to its firesite at Landport Bottom as it prepares to blow up a World Record tall 50ft Guy Fawkes effigy, with fireworks imported from across the globe.
The spectacle has received much attention in the lead-up to the event as the giant figure has been gradually pieced together on scaffolding by cranes over five days.
