SLIDESHOW: Hastings Midsummer Fish Festival

Hundreds of people packed onto the Stade today (Saturday) to sample fresh seafood and fine local produce at the Midsummer Fish Festival.

The free two-day event is now in its second year and sees local restaurants and producers showcasing their best fish dishes and local food.

Cllr Dawn Poole, Hastings Borough Council’s lead member for culture and regeneration commented: “This two day fishy festival funded by FLAG (Fisheries Local Action Group) and run by Hastings Borough Council, is now one of the key events in the town.

Visitors enjoyed fish cookery demonstrations in the Classroom on the Coast together with a mini beer festival run by local Old Town brewery, The FILO.

There was a full programme of music from local bands and an art exhibition by Laetitia Yhap

Young visitors were entertained with craft activities run by Radiator Arts, Hastings Pier, Hastings Museum and The Fishermen’s Protection Society.

The event continues on Sunday from 11am - 5pm.
