More than 200 people turned out to celebrate the official opening of a brand new factory in Laughton.
UHV Design, which designs, manufactures and supplies parts for the vacuum industry and scientific research, celebrated its move into the building last week with an opening ceremony held on Monday (September 23).
MP Charles Hendry and Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Peter Field, attended the event and cut the ribbon to officially open the factory, which saw 200 staff, guests and customers turn out to celebrate.
Peter Tuatara, sales and marketing director said the event was a huge success.
He said: “It went very well. The weather was good, it was a little bit over cast in the morning but 200 people came along.
“It is a fantastic new building, we have basically moved from a shed into a state of the art facility.
“It is really good and there is a lot more room than the previous facility we were in.”
In 2006, the company was acquired by the Judges Scientific group which has since seen the workforce treble and enable significant investment in new technologies and state-of-the-art equipment.
In 2011, UHV Design were awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade, for achieving rapid export growth which now accounts for seventy percent of trade.
The new state-of-the-art facility has a modern production area, ISO clean room and enhanced working environment for all employees.
A spokesman for the company said the factory was an important step in the company’s success story which paves the way for even further expansion and the creation of many new jobs in the future.
