Slimmers fundraiser

Please join our walk - that's the message from Slimming World members who are setting off along the seafront up to Galley Hill and back at 6pm tonight.

The invitation is open to everyone and you don't have to be a member or even very fit to take part in the event to raise money for the NSPCC Full Stop Child Voice Appeal.

Slimming World chairman and founder Margaret Miles-Bramwell is celebrating 40 years of the group this year and is encouraging her members to do 40 Miles For Smiles - SMILES meaning Slimmers Making It a Little Easier For Someone.

Bexhill organiser Avril Earnshaw has come up with a happy compromise and commented: "I suggested to the groups that we do a 40 minute walk - brisk for those who can, and not so brisk for those who can't - we have, so far, 30 members taking part, although this is not a free time for everyone, thanks to work and other commitments.

"However, I would love it if we could get another nine (or more) people to join in and make it 40 or over of us doing our "Body Magic" (the name we give to our activities) and you do not need to be a member of our groups.

"If there is anyone wanting to join in, they can ring me on 01424 225453 for a sponsor form, if someone would like to help but can't walk or join in, perhaps they could either help sponsor someone on the walk, or simply make a donation. We would be grateful either way. We are doing this for fun, and some of us are wearing lovely red T Shirts so we will be hard to miss. We have a mum and her two young daughters joining in, and a husband and wife team, so don't be shy."

The walk is planned for 6pm gathering at the Colonade, for a 6.15 start walking up Galley Hill down other side, and back again. Anyone not fit enough for this can walk to the Angling Club, and then complete their 40 minutes by going further past the Colonade and back again.
