Slimming couple lose nine stone between them

A LANCING couple have discovered a new zest for life after losing nine stones between them and winning a weight loss competition.

Holly Cox and Drew Cook, both 23, have transformed their lives and were recently crowned Steyning Slimming World’s Couple of the Year 2013.

They went to school in Steyning and met on February 29, 2004, then got engaged eight years later, on February 29, 2012.

Holly lost 4st 2lbs and Drew dropped 5st by following the food optimising healthy eating plan and swapping high calorie, fatty, sugary foods for healthy, home-cooked meals.

Weight loss encouraged them to be more energetic and now they regularly use Steyning Leisure Centre, enjoying boxercise, spin classes and running. Holly runs six miles most days and Drew cycles to work, instead of taking the car.

Carol Chamberlain, who runs the slimming group, said: “With a young toddler to look after, they still make time to include exercise into their daily routine.

“Holly and Drew have got so much more energy and look absolutely amazing.

“They’re real proof that slimmers are more successful when they lose weight with a friend or loved one, because they can make changes together, which is often easier.

“Men often think that slimming clubs and healthy eating are just for women but once they come along, they soon feel at home and realise the plan is great for men, too, because they can eat to satisfy even the biggest appetite and still enjoy the foods they love.”

Steyning Slimming World meets on Wednesdays at 10am, 5.30pm and 7.30pm, at St John Ambulance HQ, Steyning. Call Carol on 07927 114258 for more information.
