SMOKING BAN:TWO BARS AND TWO NOVEL REACTIONS

MACMILLAN'S Bar in Union Place, Worthing, has taken a light-hearted approach to the smoking ban by advertising ashtrays for sale on a notice board outside.

Owner John Cosgrove said: "We have had a lot of enquires.

"We've got a gross of them standing by."

King's Arms licensee Charlie Malcomson has reacted to the new smoking ban with humorous notices at his pub in Arundel.

At first Charlie had a tongue-in-cheek notice that read: "In order to keep in line with the anti-smoking lobby, any non-smokers will be made to stand outside for ten minutes every half hour in the freezing cold and rain to make it fair on everyone."

These signs have now been replaced with a more serious one.
