Snow-related accidents keeping Worthing Hospital busy

STAFF at Worthing Hospital are under "extreme pressure" as a result of the heavy snowfall.

A hospital spokeswoman said: "The extreme weather conditions have meant that staff at Worthing and Southlands Hospitals are under extreme pressure.

"A&E staff have treated a number of people who have fallen in the snow this morning. We would ask you to stay at home unless absolutely necessary."

Out-patient clinics are reported to be running normally at the hospital, but some planned surgery has been cancelled.

"Patients due to come in for treatment should arrive as requested unless they are contacted by the hospital," added the spokeswoman.

In preparation for more snow later today (Monday, February 2) the hospital has organised overnight accommodation for staff who may not be able to get home tonight.
