Social media erupts with A27 chaos comments

RESIDENTS have flooded onto Facebook and Twitter to express their frustration over the current A27 delays caused by a mass oil spillage.

This morning, a broken tanker shed oil along part of the A23 and A27, causing 15 miles of road blocks.

On Facebook’s New Shoreham by Sea Group, Marie Venis said: “They were at a standstill as my daughter got caught in this for one hour and 30 minutes. My daughter’s friend couldn’t get to work either.”

On the Worthing Herald’s Facebook page, Christopher Patterson said: “Tail backs going back to Shoreham tunnel when I was there 15 minutes ago.”

Many others have asked what has caused the delay and when the roads will reopen on the bank holiday weekend.

On Twitter, Glenn Cooney said: “Anyone travelling between Brighton and Lewes, note the A27 is closed due to an oil spillage. Avoid travelling where possible.”

Also on Twitter, @PublicBenjamin said: “Ooh, let’s have a bank Holiday drive out along the coast... double accident and oil spillage closing A27...Oh, turns around.”

The oil spill has caused one Mini to flip onto its roof at Falmer in Brighton, a woman sustained minor injuries.
