Newhaven Gardening Society will hold its annual show on Saturday August 2 at Meeching Hall in Newhaven.

It will be open to the public from 2pm to 4pm.

Gardening society members will put on a display of flowers, vegetables and fruit, as well as flower arrangements and pot plants.

Domestic items including jams, pickles and cakes will be displayed too.

There will also be handicraft and children’s classes.

Refreshments will be available with home made cakes.

Visitors to the event can expect stalls with a raffle, tombola and plants.

Society secretary Jenny White said: “We are a small friendly gardening club and our membership is only £6 a year. “

The group meets on the third Thursday of the month except for January and August, at the Age Concern Day Club in West Quay, Newhaven at 7.30pm.

During the meetings there will usually be a speaker, whose talk is accompanied by a slide show.
