Soldier's family help pack the goodies

SOLDIER Robin Mitchell-Davis' wife and parents are so pleased with the Observer's Supporting Our Troops campaign that they decided to help pack the shoe boxes!

Robin's wife Sarah, the couple's son nine-month-old Rhys, plus proud mum and dad Marion and Peter, dropped into our St Leonards office to lend a hand.

And we certainly needed the help! The response to our appeal surpassed everything we expected as over 700 packages full of much-needed supplies have been sent to our troops in the Gulf.

Robin's family have been sending everything from powders to magazines and football result supplements.

But when they told 25-year-old Royal Engineer Robin about our campaign he was speechless.

Marion said: "We spoke to Robin last week and when we told him he didn't know what to say. He was speechless, he couldn't believe it. It is good for them knowing we are all thinking about them."
