Someone will die if nothing is done here

LITTLEHAMPTON residents are demanding action in an area of the town they say is being used as a race track.

Around 100 concerned residents gathered on Saturday calling for traffic-calming measures and a 20mph speed limit around the seafront roads.

Residents have fears about their children's safety, with some saying it is only a matter of time before someone is killed by speeding drivers.

Stephanie Bolt, from the Beach Town Action group, who organised the meeting, said: "If you're elderly, if you're infirm, if you're a youngster, you are not expecting the pavement to be out of bounds."

Ms Bolt, who has a four-and-half-year-old son, said she had seen cars doing up to 70mph on the roads.

She said children were encouraged not to cycle because the area was used for racing, adding that they were bringing up their children in a climate of fear.
