In a report to a meeting of the full authority chief executive Trevor Beattie congratulated the minerals and waste team after announcing it had now dealt with all its planning applications in target time or in a time frame agreed with the agent.
“As a result of this the government has advised they are no longer considering whether we should be classified as an underperforming authority,” reported Mr Beattie.
He said the team had been under scrutiny from the government going back two and a half years.
Planning performance by the development management team and across the park generally was also improving, he said.
The quarterly planning performance for the nine months to December 2015 showed 70 per cent of majors, 72 per cent of minors and 81 per cent of all other cases were determined in the statutory time limits, which represented an improvement.
