FEARS THAT FORESTS in South Wealden could be under threat led to a protest rally in woodland by walkers from all over Sussex.

More than 100 protestors gathered to defend the public’s right to enjoy walking and riding in woods currently owned by the Forestry Commission, at Friston Forest on October 8.

Ramblers Sussex organised the event with other ‘Keep our Forest Public’ conservation protest groups.

The ramblers fear that public rights of way are threatened by the bulk sale of Forestry Commission land.
