Southern Rail tops performance table

The published figures measure the punctuality of all trains which run all day throughout the UK and include Virgin, First Great Western and South West Trains.

Southern tops the nineteen strong rail operator table with a 12.7% improvement; compared with the national average which comes in at around 6%.

Commenting on the result, Southern's Managing Director, Chris Burchell said:

"Last month, over 91% of our trains arrived at their destinations on time. This is a testament to the hard work put in by everyone here at Southern and to the reliability of the railway network. To be the most improved train operator in the country is a fabulous achievement and I am delighted for our passengers and our staff."
