The spokesperson said that there were not enough stallholders and entertainment available due to clashes with other markets.

“Unfortunately the Southwick Christmas Market will not be taking place this year,” the spokesperson said.

“A clash with other local markets has meant a lack of stallholders and entertainment available to attend, despite a huge effort from colleagues within a short timeframe.”
The spokesperson added that the councils are now ‘in a better position’ to ‘actively plan for high quality village markets across Adur in the new year’ as well as ‘organising the traditional Christmas markets for 2017.’

“We’d like to thank everyone for supporting the markets during this challenging year,” the spokesperson said.

“Don’t forget, Lancing Christmas Market will be taking place as planned on Saturday, December 17.

“We look forward to welcoming you at the Adur markets throughout 2017.”
