THE Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee Polegate (DJCC) is finalising arrangements for the Queen’s Jubilee weekend in the town.

During those days fun attractions will include fairground rides, a 28ft climbing wall, crazy golf (Sunday only), pistol shooting gallery, face painting, un-rideable bike, crockery smash with a variety of side stalls from Polegate organisations and the unique opportunity to view and listen to a lovely little 1935 Austin 7, named Melody, which has a built-in small pipe organ and plays tunes to entertain all ages.

Other vintage cars are also planned.

Monday will include the opportunity to see birds of prey close up and, at 2pm a Chinese Kieran (Unicorn) performance and at 3pm a display of Traditional Portuguese Dance. Bring your camera along to capture lasting memories.

Other events in Polegate include an open day for all the family at the Royal British Legion in Victoria Road on June 2.

The DJCC are running a lottery, tickets go on sale shortly, and will be available from a variety of sources within the town including all event venues. Terrific prizes can be won including two tickets for a tour of Buckingham Palace State Rooms to include travel, a family pass to Newhaven Fort, and a round of golf for two at Willingdon Gold Club plus numerous other worthwhile prizes.

Volunteers are being sought to help steward events and any time given would be appreciated. If you have an activity or would like to take a stall to promote or raise funds for your organisation/association then phone: 01323 486021. There are no pitch fees.

The DJCC thanked donors for giving money for the event including Polegate Town Council

Without those donations Polegate would not have been able to celebrate this wonderful occasion in this way.

A full programme of events with times will be distributed to Polegate homes closer to the Jubilee weekend. Any profits arising from events will be donated to local charities.
