Three of the burglaries happened around the area of Stockbridge Road and two in Birdham Road on Tuesday, October 13 and Thursday, October 15.

The offences occurred during the day while the occupants were out and at the Stockbridge Road addresses jewellery was stolen, Sussex Police said.

Nothing was stolen in the two Birdham Road burglaries.

According to police a man was seen at 3.30pm on October 15 in Fishbourne Road East, adjacent to one of burgled houses, on a black mountain bike with white wheel rims.

He was described as white, about 6ft 1in, wearing a dark top, dark trousers and had a red rucksack.

Detectives are considering the possibility these offences may also be linked to another burglary which occurred in the day on October 15 in Fishbourne Road East, Chichester, and another one on October 9 on the A259 in Main Road, Emsworth, in which jewellery and cash was stolen.

Detective Constable Jon Stadius said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to these incidents.
