The Mayor of Hailsham will be holding a special event honouring serving and former soldiers ahead of British Armed Forces Day on June 29.
Cllr Jo Bentley will raise the Armed Forces Day flag at Hailsham War Memorial on Monday (June 24).
The public is invited to attend the ceremony and support the men and women who make up the armed forces community. Cllr Bentley said: “It is appropriate for us to honour the men and women who make up the British armed forces community for their gallant service, and I am proud to be able to host this ceremony. This event gives us all an opportunity to show our appreciation for the enormous contribution that our armed forces, both past and present, have made in many areas of the world. However, it is also an opportunity to thank the service families, veterans and cadets, and also the uniformed civilian forces for their contribution.”
A special service to mark Armed Forces Day itself will be held at the War Memorial on Sunday June 30 at 10.45am.
