The illustrated talk, hosted by West Sussex County Council’s Record Office in Chichester, will be given by the Director of Screen Archive South East, Dr Frank Gray.

The Screen Archive, which is responsible for collecting and preserving films of Sussex, Surrey and Kent, has a growing collection of material dating from 1896 to the present day.

The film collection includes documentaries, newsreels, advertisements and ‘home movies’ and reflects the changing nature of life and work in Sussex during the 20th century.

Matthew Jones, Assistant County Archivist, said: “We’re very excited to be hosting a talk by Frank who is a very well-known figure in the UK’s film archive community.

“He’ll be talking about the work of Screen Archive South East, drawing on the collection stored here at the Record Office with its emphasis on West Sussex.

“I would encourage people to come along to find out more about the Screen Archive but also to enjoy seeing some fine examples from the collection.”

The talk will start at 7.00pm.
