Special guest helps Westergate church hit a high note

WORSHIPPERS packed Westergate Methodist Church for an historic occasion.

The church hosted the national president of the Methodist Conference for the first time in its 50 year history.

The Rev Lionel Osborne preached the sermon at Sunday evening’s service to a congregation between 175-200 strong.

He stayed after the service to mix with the congregation members. They came from United Reformed and Methodist churches in Chichester, East Wittering, Selsey, Felpham and Rustington.

The Rev Kavula John, the Methodist’s area superintendent and minister at Bognor Regis Methodist Church, led the service.

She said: “It was an important occasion for the church in Westergate. It was the first time it had hosted the president. It was enjoyable and interesting.

“The theme of his sermon was Christ is the sender of all. He was encouraging us to love Christ as the sender of the church and our lives.”
