Special residents' ticket launched for Eastbourne attraction

Eastbourne residents can enjoy as many visits as they like to the Redoubt Fortress this year as Heritage Eastbourne launches plans to offer a special Residents' Ticket.

Locals can pay the entry fee once and return again and again throughout the year.

Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister said, “The Redoubt is the jewel in our heritage crown and we would love for residents to return time and time again as ambassadors for one of our most important attractions.

“We have many fascinating stories to tell around the past inhabitants of our fortress, and this special ticket means residents can return multiple times and follow the many different stories of some of Eastbourne’s earliest and most remarkable residents!”

The new look fortress interior reopens this month with ‘Faces of the Fort’ on March 20 featuring interactive displays, children’s play, fun puzzles, spooky cells, dressing up and twice daily tours.

With fun trails taking place during school holidays and half term, families will have all the more reason to return on a regular basis.

Heritage Eastbourne is also offering volunteer opportunities for those looking to expand their interest in history, or even those looking to perfect their drama and tour guiding skills.

Councillor Bannister added, “The Redoubt really is much more immersive this year, with ongoing conservation work on show, tour guides and costumed interpreters at selected times adding another dimension to the experience. This is a great launch pad for a budding actor or historian starting their career.”

All standard tickets and residents tickets to the Redoubt museum cost £4.50 per adult, £2.50 per child, £3.25 for concessions or £12 per family. Residents Tickets can be obtained by presenting either an Eastbourne Residents Card or a copy of a valid Council Tax bill at the time of purchase.

The ticket entitles the bearer to entry to the museum as many times as they wish throughout 2017, but excludes special events and activities such as ghost tours, film screenings and children’s workshops.
