Spice Nights, in Queen Street, has been voted the County Times Takeaway of the Year by readers of this newspaper.

The triumph came as something of a surprise to owner Mr Uddin, who said Horsham has a number of popular, well-established takeaways.

Spice Nights is a relative newcomer to the Horsham takeaway scene, but has built up an outstanding local reputation in a short time, evidenced by winning the newspaper award.

As a small, family-run business, the takeaway has been quick to establish a loyal customer base.

And it helps that their food is delicious at a price that does not break the bank.

Mr Uddin said he was ‘over the moon’ at hearing Spice Nights had picked up the award.

He said: “It is really great, I’m over the moon actually. Local people voted for us and it makes us feel great.

“I was shocked hearing that Spice Nights won. I think we won because of the food we are serving.

“It shows by winning the award that we have local, loyal customers.”

He added that customer service is an important part of their successful business model.

The menu features a wide range of mouth-watering cuisine at reasonable prices.

And Spice Nights’ chefs will try to prepare a meal that isn’t on the menu if required.

Mr Uddin said: “We are thrilled by the local support and obviously it is all the local customers that have nominated us. That makes us really happy.

“Thanks to those people that nominated us, that is a big thing for a really small business.

“The loyal customers made us win and now obviously the new customers should give us a try to see why we won the competition.”

Mr Uddin was particularly pleased that Spice Nights won the competition over other takeaways that have been in Horsham for decades.

He said: “There has been businesses here for so long and they are big.

“We won against all the others and for a small place that is a big thing.”
