Sponsor boost

The charity will be the main sponsors for a seafront firework display tomorrow to celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday.

Town Mayor and event instigator Cllr Eric Armstrong says: "Hopefully, the display will round off what should be a thoroughly enjoyable day in Bexhill.

"The beacon on Galley Hill will be lit at 9.30pm and the amazing fireworks display will commence opposite The Sackville at 10pm.

"There will again be patriotic music playing from 8.30pm, please sing along. Perhaps it might be the most people ever singing Happy Birthday in Bexhill.

"Please feel free to bring flags and if the weather is good, why not have an impromptu barbecue on the beach or even enjoy one of Bexhill's seafront restaurants.

"The Bexhill 100 Motoring Club are staging a cavalcade at the end of the Bexhill Hospital Garden Party at approximately 4pm and will have on static display for the early evening eight cars- one from each decade of the Queen's life.

"This event has again been generously supported and sponsored by local businesses and hopefully we will be blessed with good weather.

"Please note that fireworks may be disturbing to some animals and it is suggested that you ensure their well-being on Saturday 17th from 9.30pm until 10.30pm.

"Finally we will hopefully have a viewing section for younger people and people with mobility problems - Please always comply with marshalls' requests they will always be made for your safety and enjoyment."
