Sports fields and pavilion set to benefit

SPORTS facilities in Slindon have received a cash injection.

The Slindon Sports Association was awarded £900 towards improvements and repairs to the pavilion and sports fields.

The financial backing came from the joint downland county local committee and it was one of three worthwhile causes to get a boost.

The committee agreed to distribute a total of £3,520 from its community initiative fund.

Committee chairman Nigel Peters said: “We recognised the value each of these projects will have to the people they help.

“Once again, the committee would like to encourage other organisations running projects that benefit our local community to take a closer look at the funding we can offer.”

The two other groups which received help were the Chestnut Tree House and the Arundel Community Partnership.

Chestnut Tree House, which cares for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from across Sussex, was given some £1,050.

This will be used towards the purchase of replacement bed linen.

The gift of £1,570 to the Arundel Community Partnership will allow them to buy waterproof chairs and gazebos which can be used for community events.
