AFTER WINTER under dust sheets, Rudyard Kipling’s former home at Bateman’s in Burwash will come back to life with ‘the big spring clean’ on February 28 and 29 from 10am-12 noon.

People can join the housekeeping team and see how the house has been cared for over the last century. Entrance is £10 and includes coffee and cake.

There will be a volunteering open day on March 7 between 11am-3pm when the water mill will be working.

On March 18 the house hosts a Mothering Sunday tea from 2.30-4.30pm when mums can enjoy a traditional English tea of sandwiches, scones, jam and cream plus a slice of Victoria sponge cake. Ring: 01435 882302 for details.
