Spring cleaning help on offer in Bognor Regis

ELDERLY and vulnerable Bognor Regis residents are being offered extra help spring cleaning.

A local handyman service for over-50s and disabled people is carrying out security checks and small household jobs for a nominal price.

The Mears Handyperson Service (formerly Anchor) is partially funded by Arun District Council to help people stay in their own homes.

Jobs Mears can carry out for residents include fitting locks, fitting security chains, key-safe installations and fitting spy holes at £15 an hour, plus VAT and materials.

They can also tackle many other small household jobs such as fitting shelves or curtain rails.

Cllr Paul Dendle, Arun’s cabinet member in charge of the scheme, said: “The scheme already has hundreds of customers across the district and the feedback we have received has been very positive.”
