St Jude's coffee morning

An 'excellent' £284 profit was made at the Spring Coffee Morning for St Jude's Women's Refuge at St Peter's community centre.

A hard working team on the day came up with refreshments, tombola, book and bric-a-brac section to make sure vital funds were raised for the local women’s refuge. St Jude’s helps support women and many children who find themselves having to leave homes suddenly to escape the violence of domestic violence - often miles from friends and family.

Philipa Coughlan, one of the organisers, commented: “We are delighted to help support St Jude’s and pleased that some of the children helped to make a lovely heart designed poster for us to display at the event.

“At times of central funding cutbacks it is vital for local communities to help provide extra resources for refuges and as well as this event we will once again be having our popular Carnival Day Strawberry Cream Tea again this year.”
