St Mary's School enthrall with parish church concert

PUPILS of St Mary's special needs school have put on a very special concert in support of St Peter's Patronal Festival.

With choir and percussion group, recorder soloist and solo singers, the young people had put maximum effort into preparing for today's lunch-time concert in the parish church.

Their programme even included a preview selection from Alice In Wonderland, which will be featured at the school's end-of-term concert.

The choir opened the concert with the hymn Jesus, Jesus and ended it with a lusty rendering of the hymn Come On Celebrate.

Recorder soloist Hattie Ashworth treated her audience to her favourite number, Rock Band, before launching into Dance Steps and duetting with a staff member in Two Sleepy Eyes.

Christian Oliver sang Any Dream Will Do and Daisy Burgess gave us My Favourite Things before joining Jordan Short for I'd Do Anything.

The two paired-up again for Two Little Boys.

Percussion group members had clearly been longing for their moment to come.

The concert had been introduced by the Rev Daniel Smith. At its conclusion, he summed-up the delight of the young people's audience by thanking the performers for the evident hard work which they had put into its preparation.
