St Richard's students' early GCSE success

AT a special assembly this week 114 pupils at St. Richard's Catholic College were presented with their GCSE certificates for ICT.

All the pupils had achieved their qualification in just one year and by the end of Year 9, which is two years earlier than the normal age for GCSE entry.

Some 66 pupils passed the OCR National First Award which represents a single GCSE. And 48 pupils passed the OCR National Award which represents two GCSEs.

Among those who took the double GCSE, 11 pupils achieved A* grades and 36 pupils achieved A grades. Bruce Grant, ICT co-ordinator at the college, presented the pupils with their certificates and congratulated them on their success.

He said: "You should feel proud of your hard work in achieving such impressive results within one year of study as well as gaining GCSE qualifications two years earlier than normal."
